ENG A film from the Afghan underground telling about dramatic fate of all-women from the independent Simorgh Theatre in Herat. Since the withdrawal of the allied troops, the artists have been rushing from hideout to hideout. In the underground, they deal with texts "From the Reading Book for City Dwellers" by Bertolt Brecht. Robert Schuster, with the KULA Compagnie, sees himself as a transmitter between these women and an international public. He gives voice to women who have had their voice taken away, it tells of their struggle for the possibility of artistic expression, of their longing for art, for freedom of expression. It reminds us that these women, who now have to hide, who fearfully approach windows or cross the threshold of their homes, have until recently led lives not so different from ours, that they have the same dreams as we do, that they feel the loss of their freedom very acutely.
