Copenhagen, just after the First World War. Karoline (Victoria Carmen Sonne), a young factory worker, becomes pregnant and ends up on the street overnight. She finds herself in the middle of mysterious events when she meets Dagmar (Trine Dyrholm, an award-winner at the Gdynia Film Festival), the charismatic owner of an illegal adoption agency, who offers her shelter and a job as a wet nurse. Can the relationship between the women, initially based on trust, withstand confrontation with dark secrets?
