Is it a coincidence that Mieczysław Wojnicz’s arrival at the sanatorium in Görbersdorf coincides with a certain mysterious death? Why everybody willingly talks about every other topic here, but not about missing people? What are the residents of the Guesthouse for Gentlemen afraid of? A young patient hesitantly enters a territory occupied by men convinced of their wisdom. Perhaps all tirades are merely an attempt to conceal the fear of a mysterious force responsible for the death floating in the air? The clock is ticking, the forest surrounding the sanatorium is getting more and more ominous, the first November full moon is approaching, the damp air is permeated by the stench of decay, and Wojnicz still doesn’t know why all eyes (not only those of humans) are on him.... And why is that disturbing voice coming out of every possible nook and cranny? Has anyone else heard it? Where should one look to see the hidden face of the local landscape?
