DOUBT – READING OF A PLAY

Roman Catholic school in Bronx is managed with iron fist by sister Aloysius. Restrictive rules and iron discipline are only what count. Her opposite is father Flynn, the teacher admired by his pupils, who makes friends with them and event meet with after classes. This singular intimacy and arises headmaster’s suspicions where purity of father Flynn’s intentions is concerned. She and young sister James began their private investigation and ever so new doubts arise…

Doubt by John Patrick Shanley is a story on social lack of trust and facility of judgment. The author asks about reasons that make us take interest in what goes on behind other people’s closed doors. The play comes from renowned film with Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams, nominated to Oscars and Golden Globes awards.

An opening is planned in season 2017/2018, a co-production of The Stanisław Wyspiański Teatr Śląski in Katowice and The Jan Kochanowski Theatre in Opole, dir. by Norbert Rakowski. But earlier in May audience from Katowice and Opole will be able to participate in open reading rehearsals under the eyes of the director.
