One of the best and most often played farces in the world. A story about London taxi-driver and bigamist who for years manoeuvres collision-safe between two loving wives. After an accident John Smith must spend a night in a hospital. Worring wife alarms station about her husband’s absence. What’s worse at the same time second wife alarms other police station. Two investiagations start and situation with every minute is getting more complicated. Due to comedy of situations and dialogues "Run for your Wife" since the opening night makes laugh audience worldwide.
When more than 20 years ago "Run for Your Wife" appeared on Teatr Śląski play-bill one expected succes and good attendance, but nobody forsaw that this title will be played several hundred times. More than 160 000 viewers has seen the play, and that makes some town! Not only audience love the play, because it makes "stage hormons of happines" flow. Katowice performance for years is played every now and then as guest appearance, one even made out-of-the-site presentation where audience numbered almost 3 000 people. And when it seem that amost every one in the region has seen this cult farce even several times and there is no one to play it for further before box-office form new generations of viewers and buy tickets.
Two decades of stage existance it’s a real record for a play. Oddly enough most costumes still are in Teatr Ślaski since the opening night, but new are… slippers and hats. One had to renovate stage design and that produced funny complications because plain was still fresh in the day of presentation. Especially tiresome was walking on stage, because shoes stuck to it. And while actors ripped off their shoes from board one can her loud splays, "the crocodile walk".
