THE PLAY’S PATH

OSCAR AND THE LADY IN PINK

Oscar, a ten-year-old boy ill with leukemia writes letters to God for last 12 days of his life. Boy doesn’t know much about Him. He even’t doesn’t know His adress but quickly finds Him an attentive listener. Oscar takes Lady’s in Pink advice, treats every day as ten years and his letters make beautiful and touching treatise about the most important things in life.

When Schmitt’s book found its way to publishers’ market criticts commented that here appeared novel on "Little Prince" proportions and due to readers’ admiration reading reached bestsellers’ lists. Also in this case, as after reading Exupéry’s prose, nobody has the courage to decide once and for all does this novel more captivate and move younger ones or adults.

Title could be presented in French.

MEDIA ON THE PLAY

G. Kempinsky, director of Katowice performance, escaped a trap of cheap sentiment. There was produced mature presentation, sparkling with emotions and changing moods, tasteful aesthetically – both in sphere of expressive pictures and music arrangement.

"Raport"

Main heroes’ impersonators all the time stay on stage one-to-one  with audience and drama text. And although they were taught emotional resistance in acting school A. Chechelska and M. Rachoń take every presentation very emotionaly. To Rachoń playing a boy dying of leukemia after a presenation come ill childrens’ parents asking about a conversation or only shaking his hand. Chechelska, who plays a charity worker, Lady in Pink, is asked where to take so much calm and courage from when dealing with close relatives struck down by irreversible illness.

"Dziennik Zachodni"
