“Art” – who’s behind it?

Soon premiere of a play by Yasmin Reza at Malarnia Stage! The stage designer is Maria Kanigowska

MORE

An audience seldom think about it, but designing a scenography and costumes for the show is a very difficult task. On one side they should sly with their ingenuity, on the other they can’t divert attention from stage play. Those who can handle in a best way with this dilemma create so perfect illusion on the stage, that their works becomes almost invisible. One of those persons is Maria Kanigowska, Art stage designer. Our audience knows her sophisticated, but at the same time very expressive works from “#VQRV” by Gabriel Gietzky and “Seagull” by A. Chekhov. For the second one she was given Golden Mask in best stage design category. She often collaborates with Gabriel Gietzky – she did with him performances not only at us, but also in Witold Gombrowicz Municipal Theatre in Gdańsk, Teatr Polski in Warszawa, The Stefan Żeromski Theatre in Kielce or The Jan Dorman Theatre in Będzin. She’s also the laureate of the best stage design award at 5th International Puppet Theatres for the Adults PIERROT in Stara Zagora in Bulgaria for work in “Greeks’ Mythology – Interpretations”.
