SILESIA IS FOR ME...
Silesia is my little homeland. Here are my roots, here I feel the best. I prize highly this land inhabitants’ trustworthiness, particular sense of humour and diligence.
Silesia is esecially important for me. I was striving to make Silesian identity our Theatre activities’ inspiration. That’a why production of two plays coming from Silesian roots was also my contribution. I mean "Polterabend" by St. Mutz, dir. T. Bradecki and many a times awarded "The Fifth Quarter of the Globe" by K. Kutz, dir R. Talarczyk.

 


 

ABOUT MYSELF
She was educated as historian, she was a head teacher of Szkoła Podstawowa (primary school) nr 65, then of X Liceum Ogólnokształcące (high school) in Katowice. She joined Teatr Śląski on 1st April 1979 as general manager’s  assistant. Since April 2005 general manager. After R. Talarczyk take-over of the position his assisant since September 2013. She was responsible for all matters in the field of organisation, budget, production, refurbishment and administration. Her high skills as manager of culture made possible not only refittment of Katowice stages but financial backing of organisational and artistic work.  

She published two books "Konstanty Prus 1872-1961. Sylwetka dziennikarza i historyka" (1982), "ks. Stanisław Adamski – p. 1. W kręgu społecznej działalności" (1990), "p.2 W naczelnej Radzie Ludowej" (1991), "p. 3 W Sejmie i Senacie" (1991), two scholar papers and some popular science stories about Silesia history. She is a co-author of guide "Katowice" 1973, 1977, 1980, 1981.

With Krystyna Bochenek she has organised every year Krystyna Convention, where Polish and non-Polish ladies named Krystyna could integrate and get to know each other. The conventions every year were in other Polish city or town. Due to this fact ladies could get to know different regions and have a different experiences in the field of culture. She engages Silesian ladies in Teatr Śląski activity.
For her activity she was honoured with many awards, honourary mentions and decorations. Also: Mayor of Katowice City Decoration (2005), Golden Laurel of Skills and Competence (1999), Platine Laurel "Pro Publico Bono" (2008), Narcissus Award 2006 and Black Diamond (2007) Arts & Business Awards, Master Managing of Culture (2007), Silesian Business Caesar – Special Statuette (2007), Golden Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis (2007), Officer’s Cross of Order of Polonia Restituta 2014).

The most important professional achievements:

She has overseen adaptation of a building at ul. Warszawska 2 for the needs of Chamber Stage (after a fire of Little Stage at ul. Wieczorka in 1980 Theatre not only lost the stage, but in this time was also in very bad technical shape)

In 1988 with general manager J. Zegalski decided to buy a building at ul. Teatralna 4. She looked for investor and has been overseeing construction of a new commercial building. This was opened in February 2000. From 2006 to the end of May 2014 the building brought Theatre significant dividends that made possible many performances opened.

Due to her management were prepared projects of new technical nonflammable ceiling, water curtain, new orchestra pit, exchange of door and auditorium floor for fireproof ones, exchange of plumbing, the electrics, ventilation and air-conditioning, installing of elevator and adaptation of rest rooms for the disabled, exchange of all windows and doors, refitting of holey roofing. All this activity were the effect of a fire department charge in 1995 to make a renovation or closing of Main Stage. The refitting costed 15 milions zł, and Theatre began with budget of 400 000 zł. Then for the first time we organised street fundrising and auction of paintigs. She also looked for help among the companies with funds (banks, power companies, big commercial business).

To make general refitting possible in 1995 she founded with Halina Duda-Śliwoń’s, Henryk Beberok’s, Tadeusz Łapiński’s i Bogda Tosza’s help Economy Council  renamed in 2006 Council of Patrons. This year it has its 18-years jubilee. In first 10 years Economy Council backed Theatre with 7 millions zł.

In 2005 she oversaw next refitting of Chamber Stage. Works were done on stage and in auditorium. She got the funds to buy a set warehouse at ul. Ludwika in Katowice. In 2012 was buit additional theatre warehouse.

In 2007 she organised all-year centennial celebration of Teatr in Katowice. In the scope of a cycle Jubilee Come-Backs audience met with great artists who earlier had worked in Teatr Śląski:  Gustaw Holoubek, Ignacy Gogolewski, Józef Para, Józef Szajna, Kazimierz Kutz, Krzysztof Kolberger. There was also a r-d-v with daughter-in-law and granddaughter of St. Wyspiański. A tradition of annual celebratory Theatre birthday is kept on until this day.

In years 2008-2010 she prepared and oversaw theatre workshops refitting (at ul. Teatralna 2a), expert report, changing of usage programme, removal to the old set warehouse). In 2010 due to EU funds she began a renovation lasting two years. In 2014 with special guest’s – Sławomir Mrożek’s –presence there was an opening of Scena w Malarni (Stage in Painters Workshop). Teatr Śląski has got its third stage.

She inaugurated and oversaw with chief theatre engineer – Edward Wrzesień – renovation of lodge, entry and foyer of Chamber Stage, cafe and rest rooms.          

She initiated cooperation among theatres and promotional actions for the Katowice stage benefit (repeated theatre exchanges with Teatr Polski in Warszawa, Teatr Ziemi Lubuskiej in Zielona Góra, Teatr Polski in Poznań and The Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Kraków.

She put in motion EU projet "Teatr Śląski in Your Home", cooperation with TVP Katowice (10 performances from Teatr Śląski repertoire were edited and broadcasted by TVP Katowice, three of them also by TVP Kultura)

She created spaces to present persons bonded with Katowice Stage (Gallery of Actors, Gallery of General Managers, Gallery of Patrons). She supported activity of Main Stage Gallery Foyer, promoting visual artists milieu of Silesian voivodeship and of whole Poland.
